So I've noticed the price of new PC games is getting ridiculous in the shops lately.

Too be honest most games haven't really change in price. Most games this year that I have bought have still been in the R300-R400 price range just like last year. You just need to shop online,look around and take advantage of pre order pricing.There are the exceptions like publishers like square enix but most prices are fairly stable.

If the price increases were inflation/currency based (As they have been for as long as I can remember.) I wouldn't have an issue. The increase in certain games has been closer to 30% than the rate of inflation which is around 8%. If you can explain away that extra 22% I will bow down to your infinite wisdom, until then how about a little less snark.

I remember paying R300 for warcraft 3. That was in 2002 If memory serves me right. Inflation since then has been roughly about 45-55% so games should now be costing in the region of R450.

But if you take the size of our entertainment industry which is about as big as the tampon industry in New York and the cost of capital prices should have increased by about 70%-100% over the last 8 years.

Just rough estimates don't have figures on hand.
