You're better off buying a Antec HCG 620w, Its quite a bit cheaper.
I have owned a CM 600w Silent Pro gold and it was a great psu but it cost way way to much.

Cm only make shit but cheap psu's and awesome but expensive psu's. There is no middle ground.

What's the power consumption on a >600W PSU like though? I had my PC at my flat for the first time in months last week, and my power consumption spiked quite a bit; and that's only with a 550W PSU.

Power consumption is linked to the actual gear, not the PSU rating. Thats 600W __max__ rating, not actual.

There might be a weak link between rating & actual use, but its marginal at best.

If you change GFX, that would affect the power bill directly.
