Marvel fans have another reason to rejoice, and another reason to save up their cash. MTV has revealed the first official pictures of the positively stunning Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Blu-ray collection.

This awesome, immersive 10-disc set will feature all six films, including Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 1 and 2, The Incredible Hulk and, of course, Marvel's The Avengers. This set will also include Blu-ray 3D versions of Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, as well as all previously available bonus features.



According to Disney's press release, "now that you possess the highest level of security clearance, you have been granted access to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most confidential files, including a top-secret bonus disc filled never before seen, classified information. Also featuring exquisitely detailed art, prop reproductions and artifacts from the motion pictures, the must-own Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Collection will verify your status as the world’s greatest authority on the Marvel Super Hero mythos!" Can't wait to see what's on that disc!

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One will arrive on Blu-ray September 25, 2012, the same day as The Avengers. Suggested retail for this set is $219.00. Amazon has the set available to pre-order for $152.99.

They featured it on io9.com some time ago, It is awesome but its ONLY releasing in the States for some or other fucked up reason. I had hoped Amazon UK would pick it up but no joy so yeah.

When first announced, the Limited Edition was the ultimate Marvel fan’s dream set. But unfortunately, like many dreams, it has turned out to be too good to be true. Somewhere between finishing production on The Avengers and planning out this collection, Marvel failed to realize their set’s briefcase bared a striking resemblance to a popular company’s style of attaché case. Or, even worse, they knew it could misconstrued as a replica, but decided not to acquire proper licensing regardless.

The Playlist reports Rimowa BhmbH, the German company whose case the set resembles, has since caught wind of the Limited Edition’s design and filed a suit with California’s federal court. It is reported that Marvel acquired the proper approval to use a replica of the case in the film, but nowhere in that agreement was replicating the case outside of the film discussed, and certainly not for profit.

Jeez this is insane. I don't think I know someone who wouldn't want this. But as it seems to be difficult to get this in SA, I see that Look & Listen stock all 6 Avengers-related Blu-Ray movies in a box set for R699. So you'll probably be able to find it somewhere else for cheaper.
