Try Americas Army 3 http://www.americasarmy.com/. It's free and is very simulation-y.

Its it as "simulation-y" as Modern Warfare 3 though?

Arma is probably the closest you can get to a realistic FPS.
Connection to reality could not be established, please try again later

I think it falls somewhere between Arma II and Battlefield 3. I only ever played AA2, but I reckon AA3 is more of the same. There's definitely no jump shooting or crazy kill streaks.

CS is the only really authentic experience I have found. You can't just run in guns blazing and expect to get very far. Tried Americas Army years back and it sucked. Visuals wise BF3 probably takes the cake, but certainly not realistic when it comes to shooting / killing etc.

Yeah, this list kinda starts and ends with ARMA. Everything else is a little more concerned with being "fun", whatever that is.
