Curiosity Descent + Heat Shield impact - 1080p

This is a full-resolution version of the NASA Curiosity rover descent to Mars, taken by the MARDI descent imager. As of August 20, all but a dozen 1600x1200 frames have been uploaded from the rover, and those missing were interpolated using thumbnail data. The result was applied a heavy noise reduction, color balance, and sharpening for best visibility.

There are awesome images and clips coming from Curiosity. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it over the next two years.

That is such an incredible video. It's amazing to actually be able to see what happened on a completely different planet a couple of minutes ago, and what it looks like there, etc. What an achievement.

One day, humans will walk on Mars, and eventually we will establish a base there. Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
