I remember when Unreal came out...

My dad had recently kitted me out with a Pentium 2 MMX, which with my limited knowledge of WTF I was doing, I managed to "overclock" to 450MHz. It had 512MB of RAM if memory serves.

The real grunt came from the totally sweet Voodoo 2 8MB GPU.

When I fired up unreal and saw that Nali Castle fly-by my mind was blown; it really was like Voodoo magic or something. How far we have come!

Ah, the good old days. I wonder if in ten years' time people are going to be saying the same things about games like Crysis or Witcher 2?

If those are games that aged badly what are games that aged well?

People still play Doom, Deus Ex and Duke 3D.

I personally Hated voodoo cards since i had an ati rage pro 4mb card and direct 3d games looked very inferior to the glide games back then ! and some games only supported glide in hw acceleration mode

I would say they aged badly visually. Gameplay wise Deus Ex & Half Life, maybe even Doom still hold up.

I really missed the point of that article, bashing bad graphics by today's standards. I refer back to Razer's list of gaming commandments "Thou shall value game play over graphics".
