If you're going to smack Planescape Torment in there, how about Baldur's Gate II? Looks and plays even better if you ask me.
Good call on DK II James. I would have threatened to fire him too.
Yeah, The story was really good, had some really well written comedy bits. What I remember stuck me most about it was how when you played a different class you would start somewhere else. Like if you played Warrior you start in one area and if you played wizard you start in a completely different area. Blew my mind back in the day.
/Sees its only $9.99 on GoG

I have the cd's in our store room at home but for some reason it hangs up the computer when I quit the game, I wonder if there is a patch somewhere to stop that. I really should look next time I want to play it.
Also how the wizard and warrior were against each other in the story, either one you chose you fought the other one. During Diablo 2 rule there was also Dungeon Siege which was also pretty good, I actually finished that compared to the second one where I got bored.

Your answer is sitting right in the article.
Planescape: Torment was built on the Infinity Engine – the same engine that powered Baldur’s Gate the previous year – but its baroque / gothic / steampunk aesthetic is… wait for it… infinitely better than the drab medieval stylings of the other.
