ArenaNet bans 3000 Guild Wars 2 players for exploit

Players offered a one-off chance to appeal, otherwise they’re banned permanently

I think that's bullshit, actually. If you buy a weapon for cheap there's no reason why you should get banned if you resell it. You can't take the blame for the weapon being sold for cheap.

They did announce that to get banned you would have had to have used the exploit at least 100 times. That was there cut off for banning. These were obviously people who realised that it was an exploit, and used it. Hells, there were people who bought more that 1000..

I guess roll back those accounts was too high level for the techs.

I'm a bit conflicted about this. First it was something that was in game and didn't really 'scream' exploit so it should been Arenanets responsibility to sort out but at the same time it seems that the people who got banned were guys who did this 100's to 1000's of times so I think they had a pretty good idea that they were abusing the system and it wasn't just an accident.

Something similar happened in SWTOR with the whole illum loot chest thing, where low level guys could get there and collect very good high level loot. People also got banned in that instance.

Yes it's in the game and allowed but I don't see how anyone doing this could really have thought they weren't abusing stuff.

People bought 1000's of weapons and used them in the Mystic forge to stat them to lvl 80, then sold them off on the trading post and got super rich causing the economy to become unstable.

Even in Guild Wars, people got banned, they never did rollbacks.
