St3bas, Ping is an issue. But is that really Blizzards problem or our telecommunications industry?

Blizzard is a company which has a load of standards, and serving 2000 gamers with their entire own server is not up to their standards. I've played war3 a lot back in the old days, used to have a 56k and play on the Asian servers. If you want it to work you can.

And i'd just like to drop this as well. The goal of a company is to make a profit. And the next WoW expansions looks awesome in my view

I agree with Spookie. They are still a company and regardless of how good their games are the higher ups are still looking for a way to generate more profit. One only needs to look as far as the WoW name changing, and the WoW character transfers, they could offer those for nothing, but why on earth would they when they know full well it will make them more money?

'Nuff said on that though because regardless I still adore Blizzard for making the games that I grew up on and for continuing to make legendary games which I always look forward to. At least they're using their money to improve and make better games, unlike some other companies.

    Nice article Tinman.

I am all for Blizzard taking their time and making sure that their games are perfect. A lot of people are complaining about some decisions at Blizzard but I've got faith in Blizzard. The best is to wait and see and hope for the best.

Guys, the B.net servers can be sitting on the moon, its won't make any difference.

If a South African hosts a game in South Africa and you join his game, you will get a local ping. If you join a game in EU, you will get a ping to EU. If you host a game on a LAN, everyone on the same LAN will get a LAN ping.

    Thats peer-to-peer.

See the problem is as i understand it there will be no lan. that means we need to connect to the bnet server to play multiplayer

I was referring to St3baS & SpoOkie's concerns regarding latency.

A lot of people have these concerns about latencies to b.net servers, but Blizzard has confirmed that b.net2, like its predecessor, will also use peer-to-peer.

At this moment, there isn't much info available regarding how Blizzard will implement their "Pseudo-LAN Support". It could be that you only need to Authenticate every "x" days.

I guess we just need to wait and see. I have full confidence that Blizzard know what they are doing.

Like the news article said. They have WoW to fund everything. so they can get away with taking ages and alow the games to stew in their baths of liquid 24 crt gold that are constantly being refilled.

I'll never play WoW, I hate MMOs, but I am supremely thankfull that it's there, it just means funding for the other, less profitable games, and that mean quality in all aspects. I'ts my law of the gaming industry. Less profitable the game, the better the game.

The singularity is about to explode! Weapons are at maximum.
