A lot has changed since you last played. Boating PPC's are the name of the game at the moment.
Machine guns are still terrible.
You should switch to AC/2's and chain fire. If your mouse supports macro function, you can run a mean fire sequence akin to an Anti Aircraft gun
What macro sequence can you make for 6x AC/2's?
