Yes its heavily modified, but at some point I think its a good idea to move onto something new.
But why? Yes its dated but its not like it looks like shit does it? Cod has always been about smooth gameplay not shiny new graphics. The engine works for it so why change it? If they hit the wall were they can't make it look better then they can change to another engine or create there own engine.

People say that but I don't think they really mean it. Otherwise you would still be happy playing HL1 DM and GoldenEye. Sure visuals aren't the most important thing but they make a difference and let the developers do things they otherwise might not be able to do.

Well that's the problem with arguments like this, everyone has their own opinion. we are all different and like things for different reasons. We can all keep arguing about why COD is great and why it isn't. We will never get a conclusion. My opinion is I think COD doesn't improve enough between releases, your opinion is it does. I personally don't think the graphics are very good, you think they are fine. None of us a right or wrong because we are disagreeing on something that is subjective.

Just to elaborate on this: One must distinguish between "two" Infinityward(s). After CoD4 pretty much all the (legendary) team members that mattered left & were replaced by random people from various Activision subsidiaries. Hence the contrast between (old) Infinitywards legendary status and Joker's "[new]Infinityward that usually fuck up" comment.
/Or maybe I misunderstood The Joker
