I had a similar experience in Dota 2 recently with Russians refusing to speak english. They started laughing and speaking Russian all the time with my name somewhere in the middle. It's not just South Africans, it's not just Russians, it is just assholes. They live all around the world and they make life hard for everyone
Also you mentioned this guy said he was in the top 12. Meaning he thinks of himself as a great player. Now you come along and own his ass. Obviously he's not going to be too happy about it and it was just unlucky for you that he wasn't mature enough to handle that embarrassment.
