Thread: Gaming PC - R8000 budget - help needed!

Default Gaming PC - R8000 budget - help needed!

I want to get back into gaming. My budget for the case and components is R8000.

    Intended use:

    1. I intend to play games like Assassin's Creed 3 and Dishonored.
    2. I want usb 3 ports in the front of the case and also want an HDMI out at the back to play out to the monitor
    3. I would like to future proof the rig for at least 2 years to come and don't want damage due to overheating.
    4. I also want to be able to stream music / movies to my home theatre system via wi-fi.

I saw the following setup from Evetech for R7899. I would appreciate any suggestions / comments on the individual components, as well as to monitors (budget R1500)

1st things 1st..Avoid buying from Evetech.
That GTX650 GPU is not a gaming Graphics card and you'll be seriously disappointed.

I'll work out a quote for you and drop you a pm a little later.

My opinion - Check the pricing out from Joker above, usually always a good buy! Not only that, Joker has a good reputation here and on other forums in SA and is pretty well known for handling any issues that occur IF any issues ever occur. Check it out his advice is solid and he knows his stuff pretty well!

Another advantage to using Joker is that he actually personalizes the whole deal and makes you feel part of the build. Not your average online store that slaps together a machine and sends it to you.

If you are not comfortable with the above option you can get a whole bunch of recommendations from a few other forumites as well. Another good idea is to check all the parts people suggest and check out reviews, try find the competitors models and compare as much as you can. In the 8k budget you can get a decent gaming machine depending on what you go for

goodluck with the build and hope you enjoy it once its ready

This is what I would opt for.
Although it is pretty close to the other build, the main stand out here is the MUCH better GPU.

    Intel Core i5 3470
    MSI Z77A-G43
    Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDRIII 1600 (8GB total)
be quiet! Pure Power L8 CM, 530w
    Seagate Barracuda 750GB Sata 6G 7200
    Sapphire HD7850
    Antec 302
    LG 24x dvd writer

There is absolutely no reason to opt for a 3570 as its quite a bit more expensive but only 100Mhz faster which won't be noticeable at all.

If you're able to spend a little bit more, I would also opt for this GPU:

Much more future proof and you get a free game included.

As for a screen, I would spend a bit more and grab a LG E2341V-BN, 23"

Also if you don't feel comfortable working with me I'll gladly pass the build onto my mates company (www.rebeltech.co.za)
I deal with them on a daily basis as some people prefer buying from an actual shop.

all fair and well but this does not help the OP at all.

The pricing changes and new equipment is released constantly. There could be much better deals or specials available compared to what the threads above are showing. If you are sick of these threads then just don't read them?

I'll wait for the Joker's pm, thanks! Will then ask for other peep's opinions as well.

As for for Dohc's snootie remark - I've never built a PC in my life and don't know my RAM from my CPU. So other people threads with techno geek speak is useless to me. Simply don't post a reply if you don't like the thread

Have to agree, we can never be right...

Start a new thread, you are flamed.... post in an old thread, you are called a necromancer...

Personally when I want to build a PC, I want my own thread with my own questions and recommendations, not just to read another thread or 6.
