Yeah, I would generally have to agree, however most people are not so tempered in their thinking process. With those people in mind, this can become a very slippery slope.
The thing you are forgetting is that the majority of people do not think like that, and use that kind of logic to abuse the system actually. That is how majority of people are like most of the time... unfortunately.
So should 'piracy' be allowed as a means to test out a game? SURE! Will making it okay in the minds of the populace, and making the process smooth / easy facilitate people to buy the originals once they realize they like the title? Hell NO! I do not think so.
I do not have stats, and I am curious about this. How many people that pirate products actually ever go out and buy the original if they found they loved said product? I got a feeling those are in the vast minority, and like I said, making this too socially acceptable just makes the process evermore fluid in the minds of the hardcore type pirate, YAAR!!
But yeah, nice read!
Where I am a freak now, and I am awaiting the LOL's from everybody, is my OS's have allways been legit.
Apart from my windows 7 RC which is a Microsoft Technet Download, all my OS's have been bought and paid for, even my MS office.
I own legal copies of:
Windows 98SE (my Old dos 3DFX gaming pc)
Windows XP Pro x2 (my old and GF's current machine)
Office 2007 Pro (GF's pc)
Office 2007 SB (My PC)
Windows Vista Ultimate 32 (My PC)
Windows Vista Home Premium (theater/movie/backup pc)
All bought and paid for.
I love the fact that many ppl complain about how sucky MS is, and they refuse to pay for it, but they use Windows as their OS.
Very true what is being said here. Like Lycan said we, the hardcore gamers who live, eat, sleep and breath gaming think like this. The rest who only see it as something to do will pirate it and never buy.
We love the industry and the product that comes from it. Casuals dont and thus piracy reign's
I'm planning on making my first legit OS purchase with Win 7. I will gladly spend the money after using the RC
