    Unhappy I7 system freezing issues

ok so i have this small problem with my one pc at the moment and that is it keeps freezing or throwng up blue screens when my screensaver comes on or when i play videos sometimes (the pc never used to do this before. the irony is when i play graphics intensive games it doesnt freeze or when i render complex models and scenes in 3ds and maya it runs perfectly, the trouble only starts when my screensaver comes on which is a 3d screensaver that makes use of the graphics card and its pixel shaders and the sound card but its very far from using the processing power of say crysis or far cry 2, i have already swapped the graphics card with the one in my phenom 2 and it does the same so its not the graphics card, i have also swapped the ram around, removed some dimms etc and it still freezez, if i run a diagnostic like sandra the pc dont freeze, the only possible suspects i can think of is the mobo (temp is usually around 30 -32), the cpu (temp barely goes above 50) or windows (xp pro 64) having some driver issues. what can the problem be

    pc specs below

    I7 975XE
    Gigabyte GA-EX58 mboard
    6 gigs ram
    GeForce GTX285 1GB
    Coolermaster 1250W PSU
    XP Pro 64

When I first got my current PC, I had the same problem with the screensaver and video ..... after much despair, I was told to get my codecs in order and try a different Nvidia driver and hey presto, the problem was gone.

already updated the driver for the gfx card and still does the same schitt, pooped in the ati card from the phenom 2 system (the one i am typing from at the moment) and it still freezez. when i play crysis or nfs undercover or any graphics intensive game no freezing or bsods , the moment the ssaver comes on i get bsod or when i try to play certain videos (tv series eps usually dont freeze but certain movies doesnt matter if its avi or wmv then it freezez or gives me a nice bsod.
