That said, I would have been able to enjoy it, despite the fact that it isn't really a Hitman game, if it was at least a good game, but it isn't. Not only is it a bad Hitman, it's simply a bad game, period. Shitty game design, shitty level design, shitty gameplay mechanics. The only non-shitty thing about it is the graphics.

It is a dumbed-down, streamlined piece of rubbish and it is clear who Square Enix's target audience was. First Dungeon Siege 3, now THIS? Seems Square Enix is on a mission to dumb down everything they can get their hands on.

I guess it's back to playing a good Hitman game for me, so I'll head back to Blood Money.

/anyway, that's my rant out. This isn't technically a Hitman: Absolution game thread.
Like I said, your opinion ( to which you are entitled). But my opinion is that your opinion is wrong. I find it laughable in fact.

I consider myself a pretty huge hitman fan (the series is in my top 5 of all time) and I find absolutely no fault with Absolution. Everything you mentioned I strongly disagree with, except the graphics, which are gorgeous.

Try expert or purist and then call it dumbed down again.

First thing I did was turn of all the hints and crap options so that pretty much "un-dumbified" it. Didn't find it much different to any of the other hitman games in terms of difficulty. In fact, I actually found it a bit harder. The graphics engine is sweet as well. The game was great, no two ways about it. If you didn't like it, you probably shouldn't have bought it.

    Eeeaasy!

And I find it laughable that any Hitman 'fan' in his right mind would play and enjoy this linear piece of shit, but hey, that's your opinion and I'm not enough of a retard to say someone's opinion is wrong.

Either way, I'm not in the mood to waste any more time arguing about games as shit as Absolution, so, dat marketing campaign. Shit hey?

I never insulted you, so please don't start insulting me. Excuse me for not adding emoticons to convey my sarcasm. So you've played 4 (out of 20, each of which has multiple locations) levels and call the game linear and shit. LOL, whatever. Your (IMO uninformed) opinion on the game means nothing to me so let's just go our separate ways, so to speak.

Oh, so you mean in later levels the levels actually go back to being large, open levels instead of linear garbage, enemies lose their hawk-eye ability and start getting suspicious when someone walks past them, holding a hand over his face and looking at the ground, the game loses the ridiculous Instinct system, you can choose which weapons to take into a mission with you, it actually makes disguises a viable option for gameplay again, etc.

In other words, it goes from being a linear action game (Hitman: Cowadoody Edition) back to being a contract killer simulator after the fourth mission? Because in that case I'll play again.

Face it, if it wasn't for agent 47 and the Hitman logo on the cover, this game would have been unrecognisable as a Hitman game.

I reckon we've reached an impasse here. You enjoy Absolution, I think it's the biggest crock of shite to come out this year. We're clearly not going to convince each other of anything, so let's agree to disagree. You can continue enjoying the devolution of the franchise, and I can continue enjoying the pinnacle of the franchise (Blood Money). No harm, no foul.

I never wanted to start an argument and I'm not about to start one now. All I was trying to say was that calling the game utter garbage/shit/whatever is a little too harsh. The game does have its flaws, but it is definitely not the worst in the series (Contracts is the worst IMO) nor is it the best (Blood Money). Regarding the fact that you can't choose your loadout before each level: I get that everyone misses it (so do I), but I feel it makes sense in the context of the story, since 47 no longer works for the ICA he no longer has access to their arsenal. Also, he is on the run so there is no time to go shopping.

I still don't see how you can call the levels linear (and never will). Even the first level after the intro has a tonne of different ways to finish it, just read the mygaming review for an example. This is how the whole game works, there are many different ways to tackle each situation and many different ways to assassinate each target. And yes, some of the later levels do open up a bit more and I would go so far as saying some of them are better than some of the levels in Blood Money. The game only turns into an action game if you want it to, you can still play through the whole game without killing anyone except your targets (the only way to get silent assassin rating). As far as instinct is concerned, if you don't like it don't use it or play on a harder difficulty where it is more limited or completely removed from the game.

Lastly, I suggest you give the Contracts mode a spin. This is much more similar to the style of the older Hitman games; you choose your weapon and disguise and go into any level in the game killing any target in any way which you see fit. After you escape the level you can post it online to challenge your friends or other random people. You can also (obviously) play other contracts created by other people and try to beat their scores.

So yeah, you're not going to convince me it's shit and I'm not going to convince you it's not. To each his own. Just try to accept the fact that your opinion is just that, your opinion. (I only say this last sentence because you said I have to face the fact that without 47 this game would be unrecognizable as a Hitman game and I don't agree with you.)

I'm done now, not going to derail this thread any further.
