Depends how you look at it. IMO it is extremely stupid just looking at the number of connections, as I have between 5 and 10 Internet connections. But I am still only one person. That doesn't mean that broadband has doubled in SA in the last two years.

How does the data usage compare to two years ago?
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!

In the article they actually mention that number of connections does not equal number of new people on the internet, did you read the entire article?

How is data usage a better metric? I'm using way over double the amount of data I was using 2 years ago, but I haven't become 2 people as far as I know.

Yes I read the whole article.

In my opinion a person who buys a 100MB per month broadband capable device isn't a true broadband user. In this article they look at new broadband subscribers but nowhere mention what the minimum criteria is.

If you look at the data usage it won't spike as much, and it will be a better indication of whether we are moving forward or backwards. If the number of true broadband users and true broadband users have increased by as much as they claim then surely the data usage should follow a similar trend? But if the data has only increased by 10 or 20% per year then something is very fishy...

Let's not blow our own trumpets too quickly shall we?
