    Default Cod4-horrible framerates

    Hey guys

I play cod4 allot and my fps is a constant 290 (last time I checked) but today its been dipping to 6-10 fps... Which is a bit absurd and its really unplayable with these FPS. I tried defragging but I get an error inconsistancies on local disk c ( use him the most) run chkdisk and scandisk to fix the errors and then defrag again.... I already did both chkdisk didn't come up with anything and scandisk said it can't complete.... I'm currently scanning for any virusses none so far.... How can I fix this issue?
    Edit* my specs

    cpu- intel core I5-2500K 4.6Ghz
    Motherboard- asus P8Z68-V pro
    Gfx- radeon HD 7950
    Ram-8gb corsait vengeance
    1 tb hdd
    128 gb Ssd

Similar rig as I've got. Switch off r_detail var and set max_fps at 333...assuming you're playing igame servers...wage will kick for 333. Also reduce AA.

Forget the scandisk /virus angle. Its not the issue.

    Also, check gfx temps.

Btw r_detail only disables the camo's of you're gun don't think that's the reason for that huge fps drop....

Played today runs at 320fps then after about 5 minutes the fps drops to 4-10 once I reconnect its fine for 5 minutes then back To 4 fps.... Only happens in cod4

Nah dude...something wrong there. You should manage 333 stable. Post your config files (or pm them to me if you prefer).

No....it affects the shaders which makes a huge diff smoothness wise. The most visible change just happens to be the camos.

well the bggest problem is that both of you unks are running 333 FPS .. That is hacking just FYI and both of you should feel quite kak about it.

AT 333FPS you run faster jump higher and your hitboxes funk out. But god job admitting to it on forums. 250FPs max is the way to go and play promod servers for most fun

What do you mean? I'm not running it at 333 fps..... Havoc suggested I cap it at that I tried it first I joined A igame server and the frames dipped to 4-10 after a few minutes so I joined a wage promod server and I couldn't play on the server with it so I changed it back to 250

I found it odd that I couldn't play with 333 fps now I know why.

Besides the usual drivers update, firmware update, blah blah. I'd look at thermal issues. And with amount of memory you have I'd disable Windows page filing to cut down on hdd usage.
