Games better in 720p than 1080p?

Isn't that what this entire thread is discussing?

To clarify perhaps, I was referring to benefits such as:

- To the Xbox's hardware, ie, does the hardware remain discernably cooler and therefore last longer when restricted to 720p? Somehow, my gut feel tells me that even at 720p the hardware probably works almost as much as at 1080p.

- Visually, is PQ at 720p actually so close to 1080p that one may as well play at that res. Is the difference perhaps subjective?
