    Not really, it's true. You get netbooks with better specs nowadays for R3000, not including the graphics card, obviously, but a GTS250 probably costs around R500 now.

    Like was said earlier... what is your budget. If it's like R2000, you may almost just stick with what you have

    OK, spend around half of it on the GFX The rest you can get an i5, mb and ram from. I suppose your case and PSU is still okay?

    Decide what you want first. Then check online stores.

    You wanna go LGA 775 / 1155? I just upgraded from an LGA775 Core2Duo E8400 which I o/c to 3.8Ghz, but it was still bottlenecking on GTA4 and BF3 on 1920x1080.

    Hope that helps. I would definitely recommend 4 cores. The rest depends on your budget.
