Once I'm done with university I'm going for a game development course to. Been making VERY small games in unity. And downloaded the new Cryengine SDK hoping to design a level or two but it looks so overwhelming . Already downloading a few tut's on how to create various objects etc. In the SDK.

You don't HAVE to program... You can be a 3D modeler or a level designer. If I'm not mistaken they just design the levels and model's you don't have to touch programming code

And btw the only way your going to learn is by trying I started out in ruby on rails. Very satisfying for newbies

Good choice... very powerful and not the most difficult.

Heh, I'm studying a Bsc this year which includes programming. It will probably only be basic programming for now, but if I've got the basics down I should be able to continue on my own.

I want to develop indie games. Specifically, ancient city building games in the same vein as Pharaoh and Caesar.

I'll stick to modding/mapping for now. A Lot more freedom, also got to play my Zombie survival map in HoN for the first time online the other day, so finally got some inspiration to work on it again and improve it.

Modding fits me, since I can work on existing assets of the games, I am no artist/modeller...
