This really does put me off Apple, at least in south africa :/
Was the most annoying thing about getting an ipad, really enjoy the device but realising the lack of app content was frustrating.
Any ideas what this issue is with SA board review and publications having to review all games and content before allowing it into the market?
The issue is that the FPB is the gatekeeper of content ratings in SA. They charge a fee for getting the content rated. App developers and/or publishers need to apply to have their games rated and approved.
According to the tariffs published on the Film and Publications Board website, distributors of “interactive computer games” and “mobile cellular and Internet content providers” must pay a registration fee of R924.
A fee of R1,508.64 must then be paid for the classification of every format of a game.http://mybroadband.co.za/news/intern...ted-in-sa.htmlEarlier this year, MyGaming reported that the FPB said that they have never refused to accept content to be rated for sale on iTunes. The FPB added that distributors have not formally approached them about issues they might have with classification and the costs thereof.
On the topic of games that sell for as cheap as $0.99, which may not be able to justify the costs of classification in SA, the FPB said that they encourage publishers and developers to approach them with conflicts between their business model and the classification model.

The big problem in South Africa is the FPB. If we could just use one of the international rating systems that seem to work for the most of the world then we would have no problemws with lack of content across all platforms.
Nothing is permitted, everything is true.
