I believe any situation where one complains about there house being hit by golf balls, should fall on the simple decision they made to build or buy a house near a golf course or on a golf estate. its not exactly like golfers aim at houses, but when your ball does hit one, the satisfying thunk tends to make you feel better for the lost ball.
Though this situation has arisen quite often look at the case of Alaclass Investments vs Milnerton Golf Club (http://www.saflii.org.za/za/cases/ZASCA/2007/167.html).
The complainant actually got there way, solutions tend to be nets/trees being placed closer to the teeing area.
I reckon this guy should put a shade net up, but he'd probably complain he then cannot see the green??
