Conference delegates participating in the education and health commission resolved that consideration "must be given to a graduate tax for all graduates from higher education institutions".

Details of the mooted tax were scant, with no explanation given about time lines for implementation, or the likely percentage to...read more here: ANC wants tax for graduates: report

Tax drop outs, they are the ones taking tax money and wasting it. If you've graduated then you haven't wasted money since you've completed you course, drops outs haven't achieved anything.

The ANC just love stealing our money on pointless taxes that achieve nothing.

According to the ANC resolutions, the tax was intended to bolster the coffers of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme
Yeah. Riiiiight. Here's an idea for the "government" that will solve everything: Stop pulling our money through your fat asses in the first place.

    Totally agree.

Free education was likely to be introduced next year.
Say what? How the bloody hell are they going to manage that?

Yeah well nothing is going to change then. It will still be the hardworking taxpayer footing the bill for their disgrace of a government as well as taking care of the slackers and bullshitters they create.

The hell? Do they want to stop people from studying now?

I graduated 10 years ago, and it cost a fortune to go to university, now they want me to pay more tax for being educated? WTF!

Masondo was in favour of a general levy that would see high income earners paying more.
They already do pay more. That's why we have tax brackets FFS!

Don't graduates already get better jobs with a salary which is already taxable?

My lecturer also isn't impressed since they are already cutting contributions to Universities so why the shortfall that needs to be covered by those who don't even have a job yet.

Yeah my dad pays 43% tax already on his salary. I use to pay 10% while working. But how would they feel if we took almost half of their salary's away.

Yeah the consequences of this is that no bank would loan you that extra to pay the tax. And of course many other things.
