DesolationJake you are correct. Guinsoo started DotA. He is currently working with Riot games on League of Legends (LoL). However, he might be the first guy to make dota, he was not the first to make a AoS type of game (Aeon of Strife). The original guy made it in Starcraft, before warcraft even existed, then others followed that idea in warcraft and added heroes that can level. Guinsoos merely made another AoS, one of many, that was unbalanced. Icefrog decided to use that and balance it, but it could have been anyone's unbalanced game that icefrog took.
