Athlete Oscar Pistorius has to live with his conscience after his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead, Steenkamp's father said in Beeld on Saturday.

"It doesn't matter how much money he has and how good his legal team is, he will have to live with his conscience if he allows his legal team to lie for him," Barry Steenkamp told the newspaper.

"But if he is telling the truth then perhaps I can forgive him one day.

They fought, she shut herself in the bathroom, he lost his temper, he probably only intended to scare her by shooting into the bathroom but killed her instead. An accident, without a doubt, and certainly not "premeditated murder" as the state is trying to establish but definitely the result of an anger problem.

His entire defence is about trying to pretend that everything was normal to save face and that is a lie. I don't think anyone buys that he fired into a bathroom without KNOWING who was inside, especially if not sure where his girlfriend was after being on the balcony.

The guy should just come clean about what happened instead of trying to treat the courts, the South African people, this girl's family and his fans like gullible fools.
