Except for Garrett, who now has magic vision that he never had before. Many of the series’ magical elements will be toned down
That's apt, considering the game sounds like it will be a trainwreck.“Eidos-Montreal compares game development to a high-speed train collision between art and technology.”
That really explains everything. They wanted to copy AC.The staff experimented with featuring a new character, making it a third-person game involving either tactical gameplay or environmental clambering (like Assassin’s Creed)
I think it looks good. I know nothing of this series. I hope it is nothing like Assassin's Creed.
That's what she said.
The Dork Knight.
I loved the fact that in the older Thief series for the most part open combat was not really an option.
Dishonored, while a good game, felt like it really was far too easy to just run in the open and kill everything.
I really hope they don't do this.
Also, the focus system sounds like crap, and I really don't want to be doing endless parkour ala Assassin's Creed.
Yeah, in Dishonored combat was actually easier than sneaking. That's one of the main reasons why Thief was a better game. Either you sneaked around, or you had to be really good at dodging arrows.
Yes that's the intention but it's just silly playing a game one way when the other way is so much easier and the rewards for being stealthy really aren't that great.
I hate these 'acheivements' in games. I want to play the game for a story, not go around collecting stars or whatever the hell they want us to find.
The problem with them is that they're the only thing encouraging exploration in Dishonored. In Thief, your main objectives encouraged exploration because you didn't know where the hell your main objective was. You got a static map that didn't turn according to the direction you faced and which didn't show where on the map you were currently located. That's it. You basically got plopped onto a map and got told 'this is your objective, now go do it.' Then you had to explore and listen in on conversations to get clues for your objective. In Dishonored you can merely go forward and you're going to run into your objective simply because there's not really any place else to go but forward.
Dishonored wasn't a bad game, but it was hard not to compare it to Thief; and with that comparison Dishonored lost out by far.
