Good article, it would certainly have been a very different game and experience if it had those five stuff.
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!
I would agree with all of those except Offline Mode and Save Games
I agree with the size. The zones feel way to cramped and at the moment they're stifling creativity, because you need to build in a certain way in order to make maximum use of the limited space available to you.
If the would only increase the zone size by 50%, it would already make a really big difference.
I honestly don't understand why anyone would actually not want the ability to play offline (in addition to online). In what way does it detract from your experience?
Additionally, why would you not want save games? If you like the realism effect of having to suffer for the rest of the game due to earlier decisions then I can understand that, but IMO they could have then added an Ironman or hardcore mode where save games are disabled. Having the ability to save your city and then destroy it completely, or go far back and try a different strategy adds value to the game.

I think with their vision of how you are meant to play the game offering an offline mode would result in many people not getting involved in the 'global economy'. Same as in Diablo 3. I don't have a problem with it.
Save games kind of goes hand-in-hand with an offline mode. If you want to destroy it then destroy it and start a new city. I can understand how people would want these features but for me personally playing the game I don't care for them.
I understand what you are saying, but adding an offline mode might actually result in more people partaking in the global economy - albeit not necessarily always. With Diablo 3 all of the gamers that I knew personally bought the game even though they knew about the always-online. With Simcity none of the gamers above bought the game when they heard about the same requirement. I think it's a nice concept, but I think the implementation is fundamentally flawed if you would rather have people not buy the game, than allow them to decide not to partake in the global economy (by being offline)... Do they really rate the global economy as more important than sales?
I'm guessing that it's not so simple to just destroy your city if your friends etc rely on you for certain goods because of the way in which the game relies on nearby cities?

Yeah for a few months, then it'll die much like D3.
The only reason it sold well was because of how popular the simcity's of old was. Just like what blizzard did to D3.
Oh and map/city size will def be upgraded with a future dlc.
I can see why Wyzak carries on about this because its not just Simcity but the whole direction the gaming industry is taking.
Honestly its fucked up. Online only for a game like Simcity is utterly retarded.
