I understand what you're trying to say but they didn't just invest 5$ in it, the thing runs on Linux + its designed to run steam = Major involvement my Valve.The Xi3 Piston console - backed by Valve as a third-party Steam Box
Actually I wouldn't mind a Piston. Granted R10k is a lot to fork out, but it's up-gradable, uses on average less than 50W of power and is ridiculously small.
I believe the Steambox will be cheaper, but I doubt the specs will as impressive as the Xi3...
