Hey guys, just want to share what happened to my pc yesterday.
As people from KZN know, we have quite a problem with monkeys in the areas on the coast, especially so in Amanzimtoti where I live. Late in the afternoon my loving wife phoned me on my way back home and said there was a troop of monkeys in our home and especially in my pc room and that we suffered some damage. I asked her what kind of damage and she said that the monkeys threw my case off the desk. I ended the call and rushed home with images of my pc lying shattered on the floor with motherboard in many pieces, ram scattered on the floor, psu blown up, and gpu vapor-ized.
I arrived at home with a lump in my throat and dread rising up. I walked into the study and saw my pc minus front cover sitting back on the desk (my wife picked it up). The case was a bit dusty and had small scratches where it fell, but intact, I reattached my CPU fan to the heatsink which came loose, took the dust filters off the fan (now that the front covers was off) and cleaned them, re-attached the front cover, fitted a new HDMI cable (the fall ripped the cable out of its plug) connected it to he monitor and pressed the power button, and et voila! The computer has power, POSTS and immediately being to load windows. Had it running for 24 hours plus (with restarts - sorted out all my extra USB devices), played BLACK OPS 2, checked HDD's and SDD for errors and even overclocked to my original settings and no freezes, hangs, or errors of any kind. The Only damage which I found was a crack in the front cover and the broken HDMI cable.
