    Post EA CEO resigns

Electronic Arts announced today that John Riccitiello will step down as chief executive officer and as a member of the Board of Directors effective March 30.

"This is a tough decision, but it all comes down to accountability," Riccitiello wrote in his resignation letter to the board. "The progress EA has made on transitioning to digital games and services is something I'm extremely proud of. However, it currently looks like we will come in at the low end of, or slightly below, the financial guidance we issued in January, and we have fallen short of the internal operating plan we set one year ago. EA's shareholders and employees expect better and I am accountable for the miss."

The truth is he was probably under a lot of scrutiny for 2012 being such a shit year for EA, and either he couldn't handle the scrutiny or he was pressured into resigning.

I feel a bit bad for the oke, but maybe this will bring about good change in the company. Maybe. Likely not.

Gamers should invest in EA shares, shareholders have a better voice than consumers

I want to see EA president Frank Gibeau go as well. He seems to be the driving force behind DRM and multiplayer on singleplayer games.

Gibeau adds that he has not green-lit one game to be developed as a single-player experience; instead, EA will only develop titles that include online applications and digital services.

I think it's only temporary until they find another CEO to take up the position permanently.
