I once off purchase (as in you don't pay for expansions like wow), and about R150 per month on subscription fees.

Yes the current price is $14.95 for 30 days subscription. Also you can trade in game currency for game time...that is if you make enough. CCP have released over 18 free expansions for the game with the 19th Expansion releasing in June.

The game is played on single server with around 50,000 players online at a given time depending on day of the week. The nice thing about EVE Online it is a player driven sandbox game. You decide what you want to do in the game and nearly anything is possible. Bounty hunting, exploring to discover ancient tech, pirating, corporation management (AKA guilds), mining, PvE, espionage, research and development, manufacturing and absolute PvP.

PvP is a constant in the game with some battles having 2,000 players participate in all out war. Also the DUST 514 incorporation brings something unique to the game.

Steep learning curve at first so joining a corporation is always best to learn the ropes fast. Also skills train in real time even when logged off. So the first 5 days of play will be basically learning skills and making money. After that you can decide where you want to specialize in the game.

My corporation is currently looking for new members as we have just started out and want to grow to around 50 members. We can help new players get on there feet quickly. If interested drop me a pm and I will send you the details on how to join the corporation.

    have a good week

    Cool thanks.

Been playing the trial and so far it is intriguing I must say. It has learning curve, but I find it easier to get into, than say... the X games (only referring to learning curve here - I know it is a different type of game). The extensive tutorials helps quite a lot. I have now worked my way through the explorer's tutorial and it has not been easy - I found the survey bots bit a bit tricky and finicky to find areas - but I suppose it will get easier if you learn the right skills.

Doing the business tutorial next - so far easy except they wanted me to mine an asteroid in 3rd or fourth mission but forgot to give me a mining laser. So it forced me to figure out the market by myself and buy one. After that I completed the mission - only to find about 2 missions later that they give me a mining laser as a reward (the same as the one I bought !) But in a way it is also ok as you learn a lot more by exploring the game itself and not just following the tutorials...

I haven't yet decided whether I'll subscribe though - will work through the rest of the missions and see...

Glad you finding it intriguing. Sadly after the tutorials the game drops you and then you have to decide what you really want to do. The game gives little direction after the tutorial. You can grind NPC missions to raise your standing and make money. However the missions after a cycle repeats so you might have to do the same missions over and over until you can go over to Level 2 missions.

I myself am exploring the exploring feature..... anyways.....in the June expansion called "Odyssey" they are focusing on overhauling the exploration part of the game. Upgrading the tools and interface to make it somewhat easier to use and understand.

Yesterday discovered unknown space while exploring and got baited by another player into a trap. Escaped with 40% left on my hull integrity so was lucky to get away. Had some expensive equipment on the ship and I forgot to insure it so yeah was nerve wrecking.

Anyways hope you enjoy the rest of your trail.

Always keep in mind that Eve is a fully PVP game, nowhere is absolutely safe. Nothing you do is safe from someone trying to steal from or kill you. There is NO such thing as a fair fight. If you are entering a fair fight, then you are doing something wrong.

If you are starting out in Eve I can REALLY recommend this organisation:

    http://www.eveuniversity.org/

They have a TON of tutorials, online and offline lectures on everything Eve AND they have a corporation devoted to getting people started. They have no strings attached and even encourage people to move on if they find something better.

I am not suggesting you join this rather than Brix's corp, I am just pointing you in the direction of free, no strings attached good info. Don't have to join them to use the info that they have available.

The EVE university is a very good corporation to join. I would highly recommend joining them if you want to learn the most from the game. I myself tried to join them when I took up EVE again.

Just their application process is long and complicated. You basically have to fill out a form that will take you around 30 minutes. Then you have to wait a week to know if your application is approved. When your application is approved then you have to endure a short interview with the one of their staff members.

I formed by Corp because I got tired of waiting for the interview and a good opportunity arose.

PS the nickname is Vendetta not Brix. Brix was my old clan name but for some odd reason the forum won't allow me to change my username.

Thanks for the info. Everyday I'm getting more involved (helps that I am on vacation at home - otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten this far) and deeper into the game and definitely considering a subscription at this point... Will check out the University for more info.
