Hehe. You okes are misunderstanding him. Epic knows exactly whats cooking - they always have & always will.
He is not talking about *average* he is talking about the lowest common denominator. He is excited about the fact that he can write code that assumes there will be at the very least 8GB of RAM. It has a massive effect on the design of the game engines & hence Epic is excited. Plus its GDDR5 RAM which is pretty neat too...
Both the GPU and CPU utilize the same 8gb of GDRR5. They might still end up shuffling data between the designated GPU portion of it & the CPU portion, but how that split (if any) is implemented is too early to tell.
PS4 will def fly. Just the raw specs are quite powerful & thats without even accounting for the fact that it'll have the benefit of upscaling too.
