It's an interesting article. I've been looking to buy my wife a better graphics card since she's currently using a 9800 GTX+ and even though she doesn't play most of the AAA games, there's more and more games coming out that she enjoys. I've got a 5850 that I bought a few years back and it still works great. It was a good buy.
I think the cheap DACs they put on those cards just enable legacy video ports, which is okay for what they're used for. KFA2 had a dual-HDMI GT220 at one point, which would have been useful. At least the Flex works for cheap Eyefinity configs though, it doesn't pretend it's anything else.
I've been using a 7770M on my laptop and it's actually pretty cool, yes it's no way as good as the 6870 I had on my desktop I sold, but still the laptop is a lot more convenient then my old desktop. I can play most games at 720p with most detail turned to high.
