Four schoolgirls were forced at gunpoint to eat salt during a house robbery in Elliotdale, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

Major Zamukulungisa Jozana said three men armed with a gun gained access to the house shortly after midnight on Monday. They broke down the bedroom door where the girls were sleeping.
