Never compare international prices. Do you want a bigger shock? Compare Australian Samsung Plasma/LCD Televisions to our local prices. I know first hand. I paid double for a TV here than compared to what it costs in Aus.

I hear you bro, i do. I see the point but thing is, if we had full support would our pitiful internet be able to handle it? Even with a local mirror, with many SA isp's having mixed local/int bandwith it doesn't matter if ur downloading locally or internationally. Granted with MP its better to be local. Im not saying its wright, i just say i see part of M$ point.
Have to agree that more and more SA gamers will be going PS3 now. At only R300 more, it makes sense to a lot more people now.
You missed the point of my post. I was comparing the price diff between the two internationally and here. On both the PS3 is more expensive. So yes, they released a slim thats super cheat. But if u want to get another controller is another R700. U want a media remore, some cables... it adds up. Yes the Wireless adapter for the xbox is hugely over priced but there are ways around that. Not many ways around getting another controller.
Ill be getting a Slim myself, not for the local network and not for the expensive accesories. Ill be getting it for the titles. If some DLC does come my way on the xbox its no big issue. I have a live account and a cheap 10gig ISP account. Ill just download it from there.
Im not sure what you are going on about here. Can you give examples of how our PSN Store is behind the international store, because in my experience, the local Thursday update is usually pretty much identical to the international store update, as Deceptor mentions above me here.
Secondly, the comparison was made to illustrate how poorly implemented XBL is in SA in comparison to PSN.
LOL, dude, our internet is not THAT bad anymore.
Trust me, if it can handle millions of people going online everyday, using bandwidth intensive aps like youtube and facebook, not to mention the corporate stuff and things like internet banking, it can handle a couple of thousand Xbox Live users.
Im not demanding a local mirror (yet), but it would be nice if we could actually sign up using our real addresses, and get free DLC which is included in the product price when we purchase it.
Unfortunately I don't have the contact or original e-mail anymore but I once contacted one of the managers involved with the PS3 online store in South Africa and he responded in saying that they are working very hard to match our content with that of the UK and the rest of the planet but they WERE/ARE experiencing some issues.
I'll give you one example: The Downloadable content for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Do you see that on our PS3 online store? Thought not![]()
My ignore list: growing too fast to keep updating.
I saw an add in the back of total pc gamer the other day. Virgin has a ISP in the UK. 20odd mb/s line spead and unlimited download for under 20GBP, thats R235, im paying more than that for 10gb and then i still have to pay telkom line rental. Compared to our pitiful 4mb lines with 20 or 30gb caps? Sorry Bro but in my eyes thats pathetic. I dont see myself using Netflix or any one of those services anytime soon. I agree that it would be nice to be able to sign up with my actual adress instead of my ex in the Uk's. Would also be nice to change my pc region to SA, as i have it on UK so Games for Windows Live works. Think is xbox owner might buy a PS3, like i plan on doing, but for exclusives they are still going with their xboxes.
