Just had a thought, maybe this has nothing to do with video games as the source of the violence as much as it is the catalyst that makes these kids loose their minds, if the object in question was something else for instance not allowed to watch tv or play on your phone etc... any other device ,toy or source of entertainment that said child was addicted to would the result have been the same.

Perhaps its not the games but a complete lack of discipline that allows the child to get to the point where they do these things.
