    This always amazes me:

a boy watches WWW on tv while listening to metal music on his headphones and playing GTA on his PS3 after which he goes and shoots 3 people with a baretta 9mm at a local coffee shop in a popular mall....

    who is to blame???
    1) Is it the shopping mall for not having enough security
    2) How about the coffee shop for not taking better precautions for their patrons
    3) how about the people themselves, maybe they antoginised to youngster in some way
    4) Maybe the gun manufacturer for having made the weapon in the first place
    5) or the government for not enforcing stricter gun controls
    6) Perhaps it was sony's fault for allowing violent games to be played on their console
    7) And lets not discount the game developers for not having the game characters hit each other with soft whit flowers instead of machine guns.
    8) or the metal music that definitely has a propensity towards violent lyrics
    9) or wrestling on tv, instead of watching cute little bunnies animatedly talking about cooking biscuits
    10) was it his parents, teachers, long lost relatives, how about that peanut butter jelly sandwich he had for lunch

Blame has to be assigned, it is inconceivable that their is no-one at fault, except maybe.....

maybe, just maybe, it is the boys responsibility, assuming that he has all his faculties, then lets assume he made his own decisions and lets demand he takes responsibility for his own actions, he wanted to watch www, and listen to metal, and play GTA. He picked up the gun and decided to go to the mall, and he alone decided to pull the trigger and watch the carnage.

lets stop redirecting and dissipating blame and focus it on the perpertrators.

if a group of people get drunk at a rugby game and kill someone why is the news about alcohol and not about the heinous deed that followed. "'Oh alcohol, made me do it"" BULLSHIT - You made you do it!!

anyway had my rant, sorry if it is incomprehensible
“Well, if you see anything crawl out of the sea and try to breathe, you could try telling it not to bother.”

On the other hand, it’s linking that gun with violent and aggressive behaviour.
And by "violent and aggressive behaviour" they mean "the shitstorm that'll ensue the next time gaming gun violence is in the media".

I think part of the problem here is that gamers and game companies are too quick to vehemently deny involvement whenever some kid who owns a PlayStation shoots someone in the face for realsies. While I'm definitely not agreeing that games are in any way responsible, I can understand how it looks to those pointing the finger.

Playing the blame game is just making things worse for us, EA.

Well all I know if I ever need to go on a rampage (let me make it clear I would never - really don't want the police coming to my door tongiht), totally choosing a Desert Eagle, and an Awp, because they are the coolest guns in counter strike.

Also if I was too drive recklessly it would be a Lamborghini, because that's my car of choice in need for speed. I pretty much base my life decisions on my gaming habits.

People should really just stop making everything in life a crutch for their own faults.

EA paid them to use their gun names. Otherwise gun manufacturers could sue them. Like if beforehand they called a .50 cal sniper rifle a McMillan Tac-50 , it will now be changed to just 50 cal sniper.
