And then Mercedes would shut the factory down, ship all the stuff across to another country then continue from where it left off. Merc doesn't give a damn about this country's issues, they can pack up and leave whenever they like and I will salute them if they do. The idiots in this country who think that they can strike because they can should learn that they're fscking with the economy.

you would not believe what this started over.

I have several friends and family members who work at the plant and this is from them:

In the paint shop, special uniforms over your clothes are to be worn in the paint shop itself. To prevent dirt mixing with the paint. The previous paint shop manager saw no problem with the 150 staff members wearing these uniforms outside. The new (German) paint shop manager makes them take the uniform off every time they leave the shop. Now they say he is a racist and refuse to work for him. The whole plant now sympathises with the paint shop guys so they all strike. The logistics offices moving has only come to light amongst all this, increasing tensions.

If the mercedes plant here closes East London will be royally screwed but it will be a mistake on Mercedes Head office part because this plant actually does outstanding work and has won numerous awards.

And this is based on a group off painters who don't understand why they should remove their overall when leaving a clean room to prevent paint contamination and create a better finished paint job, but instead call the system to ensure quality racist?

ya the previous manager was a black guy, the new guy is white and German(therefore kak loads more stricter) and they see his strictness as racism.
