It has everything to do with computer literacy. If more people realized how restricted windows is, many would ditch it and go over to Linux. Meaning a larger market for Linux.
Right. Linux is much messier than windows in terms of drivers and standards. But as one dev said,Windows has more developer support because it courts the devs and enables them to make money. It's as simple as that. Devs go where the money is. Linux is a ghetto for them
^This is the main reason why almost no linux ports are made. And why is the market so small? Because everybody uses windows. If more people understood the advantages of linux , and not go for the macOS or windows simplicity crap, the linux market would be much bigger.Common wisdom in the games industry is that you can't make money making games for Linux simply because the market isn't big enough. That's why AAA shops don't do Linux ports any more.
Also what stops the devs from building their games with openGL, if there was a bigger linux market? Sure , there are more costs involved in developing and testing cross platform, won't that be covered by the linux sales then.
If only audio and debugging ( which i saw is terrible ) on linux could be improved, gdb being slow as f**k , requiring a lot more thinking than ide, then linux would be near perfect IMO.
LOL the government monkeys using linux? Hahahahhaha, this is too good!
