MSE and malwarebytes on Win 7. On Android I'm running Avast. Used to have some form of Symantec at work but I nagged so much the one techie removed it for me and replaced it with Endpoint (which looks exactly like MSE?). My problem with Symantec was that it took ages to start up (once it was removed my boot time dropped with 2 minutes) and when it ran a scheduled scan it would render the laptop unusable.

I read an article a few years ago (PCFormat, I think) where the author basically dismisses the urban legend of anitvirus companies being behind most viruses. He does tell of how an unnamed company redesigned their AV software because their market researched showed that users have more trust in AV software that takes up more hardware resources. They "want to see it do something" was the expression used.

MSE used to be REALLY bad... then according to people on MyBB, it got really good in the last couple of years (haven't tried it since Vista) and now it is going down again.

No guts, no glory, no brain, same story.
