I just got the Witcher game. The first one... am in in for a good gaming experience? Can't wait to start
I cant freaking wait to play this, I hope the optimisation is going to be good
Haven't played any of The Witcher series.
Is it recommend I start with the 1st and 2nd or can I go straight to The Witcher 3?![]()
Read up on the first (use wikipedia or the witcher wiki) if you aren't a 'hardcore' RPG player, or don't have 60+ hours to put into the first one, then play the second game. The Witcher 3 is still a good three quarters of a year away, so there's plenty of time to play the previous games
I recommend playing both, but the first one isn't most people's cup of tea.

Sorry for the late reply, didn't check this thread
It's hard to describe. Once you play it you'll understand why. The story is really good, but the weird ass rhythm combat usually confuses people. Also the way Geralt holds his sword in the air :P.
The game, when it came out, was already running on an outdated engine, so it doesn't really look that good when compared to The Witcher 2. It really had some amazing art design and open levels, a lot of which got lost in W2, but from the looks of it is coming back to W3. The voice acting and animations are also quite bad, but this was their first game, and the Enhanced Edition basically redid the entire game's script. The original version was cringe worthy to say the least. Don't get me started on those bog-standard fetch quests. Go to Vizima, go to the swamp => repeat X100. I'm a Witcher for crying out loud, not an errand boy! So glad that they removed those from W2, and gave us some really interesting side missions.
Also, most people won't like the 'mature' story; lots of swearing and I personally feel that the sex cards/sex scenes were childish and felt like a minigame (even worse than Bioware's "sexy" underwear scenes). I much prefer Witcher 2's take on the sexy time.
[Spoiler] That elven bath scene was actually really cute[Spoiler done]
Overall, It's a 'hardcore' PC RPG. Back in the day, people would've appreciated it more, but nowadays thanks to Bioware's 'RPGs' (more like action adventure with a few RPG elements..ahem Mass Effect 3), many people find it too difficult to get into.
