Wesley just picked up on my comment on MyG so I thought I post more about it here.

It doesn't work for all games e.g. RTS.

A while back I watched Deus Ex HR and that was cool! An added bonus was watching the different endings, this REALLY feels like cheating as you can skip replaying the games choices with a few clicks.

I follow RajmanGamingHD channel, he/them are very good playing on high spec PC's (for Deus Ex at least is was high end max details and tesselation, when that was new n hip) he doesn't speak during the game and reads every note/audio log.

He's clever enough to view a note or text for 1 or 2 seconds seeing as I can pause the video and read the whole thing then hit play and get back into the game, so to speak... Oh yeah he/them are waaaaay better than I am at gaming, they finished Deus Ex HR the non-lethal way except for those stupid boss fights, I can't see myself doing the same.

I've just checked and he has the whole gameplay for The Last of Us already up! If I'm not mistaken this game isn't at retail yet?

For me it helps my itch, there are more games coming out on more platforms that I don't own and it would cost way too much to get all of them and the time involved in playing them all. So for those games that fit the bill, it's an option I chose to follow.

It's also a heck of a money saver! GTX 680 gameplay with all the bell's n whistles plus all the consoles in one browser (to rule them all! Sorry had to :P ) and you can pickup where you left off pretty quickly. I also stream it via my TV or on my Android when I'm not home so it's convenient as hell.

For pure gaming/entertainment purposes, consoles have always been the more economic option.
PCs allow for a greater variety of tasks, i would like to see someone try coin mining with a console .

    Exclusives are marketing stunts IMO.
From development POV: What is more difficult to develop, a single platform program or a single program that can run on different platforms? Less effort for more profit $_$.
From marketing POV: we control this IP so all its fans are belong to us.

What about interoperability? I've yet to see a game that allows multiplayer across all the consoles and PC. Unfortunately, the gaming dev have to rely on publishers, whom have to make deals with different platforms vendors to get funding for making games. If dev companies have their own funds, we can see a change in current things....

ANYWAYS. For me, I need the features that PC offers, unless you could write scripts on consoles.
Lastly, for those saying that they can't game on KB and mouse, there are xbox and PS game pads for the PC

Exclusives are a mixed bag, look at Sony's Uncharted, God of War, Last of Us etc they clearly have a positive effect and are some of the titles that really show what a PS3 can do. Admittedly companies like Microsoft can milk the system with titles like Gears (still wish they had brought 2 and 3 to PC), Halo etc there isn't a definitive reason that they aren't on any other system save for the publishers strangle hold on their IP.

It shouldn't be this way but it is and for some it can be justified i.e. PS3 unique H/W Nintendo Wii/U unique game controllers/interface but for the rest (I'm looking at you MS) it is blatant control to generate more money.

I've got both Batman games on Steam, picked them up for next to nothing and they look really good on a PC, why couldn't MS release Gears the same way?

You bring up another good point with interoperability, where is it? I saw nothing that took advantage of this over the current gen consoles life span. The PS4 has some cool interoperability with Sony branded Android tablets, maybe this is the start of interoperability done properly?

I will go the PS4 route as it will be much stronger that my current PC.

currently my pc at home sucks, so i use it mainly as a media server and my work laptop(stronger than my pc) is 95% for just work.

I enjoy relaxing on the couch, pressing the PS button and picking the game i want to play, and with PS+ i do not even need to swap disks when changing games.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Unfortunately, most of us need a PC for everyday use. Why have two different ecosystems when you can have one all-encompassing one?

Yes but that's not really what he's saying. He's got a situation where his oldish X3 PC is plenty good enough for most tasks, but it's the choice of whether to UPGRADE his PC for gaming purposes, or to get a new PS4 rather? If I'm sat with R4000 and a choice of either way, it's not that easy of a decision to make. For all things other than gaming, I don't need more than a basic PC.

From a developer point of view I can fully understand why I would rather do work for console. Less threat of piracy and no one will ever NOT buy your game because their system can't run it.

I can also understand why they would also rather develop for PC, the fact that it can be inherently more powerful allows you to really show off and do some amazing things that console just can't manage (ALA Witcher 2 ).

You can't really say that PS4 will change the future of PC. If anything, the fact that it is practically a PC means that developers will have an easier time optimising games FOR PC meaning squeezing all the latent potential of PC's out. The day will eventually come when you can treat your console in the same light as an augmentation to your PC instead of a replacement.
