    Well in fairness the added in kinect 2 is quite a bit of value on its own. Sony is selling their Eye2 for $60 and the Kinect looks better specced all round.

    What Mattrick seems to miss is not whether the technology inside the box is worth the money, but whether people are willing to pay that much for a gaming console. The Xbox One offers nothing we don't already have, it merely consolidates everything into one box. If you're not interested in that, you're not going to want to pay an enormous price for a device which has a ton of functions you're never going to use.

    When the xbox 360 was launched, didnt they sell it at a loss just to help secure sales?

    All consoles, besides Nintendo ones, are initially sold at a loss.

    I'm not if Im missing something, but I haven't really heard many people complaining about the value of the machine, only that they would prefer to buy the Kinect separately.
