Thread: PS3 as Blueray player

    Default PS3 as Blueray player

Are there any comparative specs available for using the PS3 as a blue ray player. I had quite a few problems using the PS2 as a DVD player, so I am a bit concerned. Anyone had any positive/negative experiences?

You'll find plenty if you Google around a bit, but I do know that the PS3 has all the fancy Blu-Ray features you could want including support for Blu-Ray 2.0.

Personally though I've played plenty BRs in my PS3 and I've never had any issues.

No issue even when the lens is failing it still manages to play the movies, even if the games dont run lol... Expierenced that first hand.

The only way I will get a Blu Ray player is if i win one of the current PS3 comps

And then i will be forced to buy an HD LCD TV...

the only issue i had with my ps3 player was some random hanging at certain spots - might be scratches. interestingly, i can't seem to repeat this on standalones. hmm

Hehe yeah its kind of pointless watching blue ray on a normal tube tv.

I've never really had a problem playing DVD's on the PS2 (unless you consider slow FF a problem) so I don't imagine there'd be problems with the PS3's Blu-Ray player.
