Are there any comparative specs available for using the PS3 as a blue ray player. I had quite a few problems using the PS2 as a DVD player, so I am a bit concerned. Anyone had any positive/negative experiences?

You'll find plenty if you Google around a bit, but I do know that the PS3 has all the fancy Blu-Ray features you could want including support for Blu-Ray 2.0.
Personally though I've played plenty BRs in my PS3 and I've never had any issues.
Yea, I have never had any issues watching Blu-ray disks on my PS3.

the only issue i had with my ps3 player was some random hanging at certain spots - might be scratches. interestingly, i can't seem to repeat this on standalones. hmm
I've never really had a problem playing DVD's on the PS2 (unless you consider slow FF a problem) so I don't imagine there'd be problems with the PS3's Blu-Ray player.
Good to know, because that is also one feature i want to use it for watching movies, if i am going to buy a ps3? Multi purpose, GREAT!!!!
