Sony dropped PS Eye to undercut Xbox One

Sony’s strategy to exclude the PS Eye was to beat Microsoft’s price

Yeah personally I think this is a mistake. If you're serious about a controller you need to bundle it. Otherwise it gets forgotten like all peripherals. MS made the right move here. Devs know that Kinect2 has a 1:1 penetration rate with the console and that is a much better incentive to make software for it.

I'm with Sony on this one, until the Kinect2 proves itself I'm not keen on buying it. Being forced to buy the Kinect 2 doesn't make me happy. I've already got version 1 and never use it. If down the line I see it has some actual benefit I would be more than happy to buy it.

And I don't believe penetration was a problem with the 1st version, 24 million units were sold.

The problem was how silly the games for it looked and worked. Star Wars Kinect, anyone?
