My dad has been telling everyone to fill up their tanks before the price hike.

It must be nice to be like my brother and have your boss pay for petrol. The guy even travels on holiday and puts it on expenses.

We need to encourage growth and support local business to remain competitive in the global market thus a weak rand creates a false profit for exports.

Or at least that's the bull government is claiming.

Actually the Rand has improved/strengthened recently and is trading at 9.88 to the dollar.

Sentiment. Apart from being an emerging market, our country has been struggling with labour unrest, wild cat strikes, service delivery protests, rising unemployment, problems with education, corruption in government, etc.

Unfortunately traders and investors have withdrawn investment in the Rand sure to their worry and uncertainty in South Africa. Our government has done little to quell their fears. That said, the massive decline is widely regarded as being excessive and not the true level at which should be recovering. Recovery is expected, just not sure how quickly it will.

Wish they would stop doing all that so we can become a better nation, but dont think it will unless the goverment changes.
