Exclamation Mass Effect 2: Bonus Content

Bonus Content for Reserved Copies of Mass Effect
    By BioWare

Today we announced that Mass Effect 2 will be shipping Jan 26, 2010 and that you can reserve your copy an receive exclusive in-game items! Here are the details:

Terminus Assault Armor and the Blackstorm Heavy Weapon

In North America, pre-order bonuses* include special-ops armor and weaponry that are designed to boost Commander Shepard’s skills and abilities. At GameStop, Terminus Gear is available with pre-orders, which includes the powerful Terminus Assault Armor and the Blackstorm Heavy Weapon:

    • The Terminus Armor is designed for use in extreme planetary conditions, increasing run speed and personal shields, and augmenting weapons with an additional magazine of reserve ammo.
    • The M-90 Blackstorm Heavy Weapon generates a high-powered localized gravity well, accelerating particles to near-infinite mass, and ultimately expanding the selection of heavy weapons available to players when they gear up for combat missions in Mass Effect 2.

    Inferno Armor

Players that pre-order Mass Effect 2 at other retail outlets in North America will receive the potent Inferno Armor, which is used by officers to monitor battlefield conditions by recognizing elevated heart rates, and regulates sub-systems with extreme efficiency to allow for greater response times – together these abilities translate in-game into a negotiation bonus for Commander Shepard and an increase in run speed and augmented damage from combat powers.

Now to figure out which armor set to get for which platform…

Somehow I can't help thinking that EA is milking this "bonus content" tactic a bit dry.

Also, if these bonus items are strictly for the North American purchasers, then that's a gross ridicule of the fans across the rest of the world. Otherwise, bring it - I confess a guilty pleasure for "bonus" (AKA should've been there from the start) content

I have no issue with bonus content. Only have an issue if its not available for everyone at least as dlc.

Will try and find out if they have plans for the other regions.

Also for all the worried pc gamers, they have confirmed on the forums that they are working on a simultaneous release.

So, is that release date for both Xbox360 and PC version, or only the Xbox360 version?
We are working towards a simultaneous release.

Glad to hear the pc version wont be delayed like some games we know. I would have liked to get my hands on any one of those 2 bonuses.

Don't be so quick to assume they won't pull an Activision later next year. Bonus content is always fun, but usually this type of thing is only useful in the early parts of the game only to be forgotten when you get the cool new shiny armor a little later in the game. That said, the Terminus armor does look very nice.

Not sure if anyone else noticed but BT has updated the me 2 page. Now says if you preorder you get the terminus armor and some weaponary.

Pre-Order now and receive special-ops armor and weaponry that are designed to boost Commander Shepard's skills and abilities.

    * The Terminus Armor is designed for use in extreme planetary conditions, increasing run speed and personal shields, and augmenting weapons with an additional magazine of reserve ammo.
