It’s here, the new Golf GTI is on SA roads and VW hopes to add to the 59 500 GTIs already sold in South Africa in the past few decades.

The 7th version of this iconic car boasts a 2-litre turbocharged direct injection engine that puts out 162kw, exactly 100% more than the first generation GTI. The engine has a completely newly developed cylinder head and a water-cooled exhaust gas circulation loop to the turbocharger that is fully integrated in the cylinder head. This type of exhaust gas cooling...read more here: New Golf GTI arrives in SA and is waiting for a test drive

Trying to convince myself not to buy one but there aren't many reasons.

The only decent reason I have so far is that it will accumulate a lot of Kilo's.
The interior is stunning! DSG incoming.

Looks nice but still a fan of the Honda Civic Hatch and the good track record compared to VW.

Isn't this article 2 weeks late?

As soon as I find a buyer for my current GTI, I'm ordering one.

No guts, no glory, no brain, same story.

I really don't like the new designs, I am becoming more of the opinion that the design looks more feminine for a man's car. Nothing against those that have or will have this car though.

    I'm not following
The Golf 7 GTI has everything standard that came in the Golf 6 GTI and more.

Edit: Even if you include all the possible optional extras available, the price comes to R462k, but that includes the Satnav and ACC which I think are both a waste of money to begin with (they make up R30k).

My sister got to drive one on a skid pan a while back (adv driving course).

I was actually surprised they had a gen 7 there not gen 5/6.
