They are literally the same as the X-530's but with a wired remote and squarer, more tradition-looking speakers. I've got them and compared them to a friend's X-530's and the sound quality seems to be pretty much identical, so no upgrade in that sense, but the wired remote is sweet. It has a long cord, a headphone output (but no mic unfort), volume and bass knobs, and a 'matrix' button that converts 2 channel into 5.1. They are only very slightly newer, had mine for at least a couple of years.
